About a half-dozen people protested a north Florida county’s decision to fly the Confederate flag in front of a government building.
People gathered Wednesday in front of the McPherson Governmental Complex in Ocala to show disapproval of Marion County’s decision to fly the banner.
The county had taken it down weeks earlier after nine black churchgoers were slain in Charleston, S.C. The accused killer had posed for photos with the Confederate flag before the incident.
Local Democratic Party chairwoman Joyce Blake told the Ocala Star-Banner that county commissioners didn’t list the flag vote on their meeting agenda, so no one could protest it.
The banner flies with U.S., French, Spanish and British flags in a display representing five different historical rulers of Florida.
