Adams & Reese collects $120K in Q2 lobbying earnings

Adams & Reese – the one-man lobby shop piloted by former Florida House Speaker H. Lee Moffitt – took in a healthy sum from its governmental relations work last quarter: some $120,000, according to estimates based on recently submitted compensation reports.

As you might expect from a former presiding officer in the Legislature, around $90,000 of that came from work influencing state lawmakers, with the remaining $30,000 stemming from representation before executive state agencies.

The former Tampa representative for whom the renowned Moffitt Cancer Center is named boasted a small but potent roster of clients: all of Adams & Reese’s earnings between April 1 and June 30 came from just 6 legislative and 6 executive contracts.

The highest-paying concern which sought Moffitt’s institutional counsel was AAA Auto Club South, which contributed an estimated $40,000 to the firm’s bottom line, including between $30,000 – $39,999 for legislative lobbying.

Building Owners & Managers Association of Florida was the runner-up, compensating the firm to the tune of $30,000.

Transportation and medical interests dominated the firm’s business during 2015 Q2.

American Coatings Association, AutoNation, Martin Memorial Health SystemsTime Customer Service, and Martin Memorial Health Systems rounded out the client list, adding another $50,000 all told to Adams & Reese’s ledgers.

State law requires lobbying firms to submit compensation reports quarterly. They are permitted in most cases to simply report an approximate range of client compensation rates instead of the specific dollar amount.
