2018 watch: Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine to host radio show on SiriusXM

levine, phil

Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine is taking to the airwaves with a new political talk radio show premiering Tuesday on SiriusXM Insight.

Levine is widely speculated to be considering a run for Florida governor in 2018.

“The Mayor” will feature bipartisan, roundtable discussions and one-on-one interviews with elected officials on the most important issues facing them in running American cities and states.

“I’m a huge fan of SiriusXM programming and I’m thrilled to start this new adventure with them,” Levine said. “I want my new show to get listeners excited about the insiders’ perspective on everyday government decision-making, as well as the personal side of people who are leaving their footprint on society.”

The first episode, set for 6 p.m. on SiriusXM channel 121, will feature Democratic Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Republican Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett, as well as a segment with Miami Beach native and 19-time Grammy Award winner Emilio Estefan.

SiriusXM said the show will run for six weeks and include coverage of Florida’s role in the 2016 presidential election cycle.

“‘The Mayor’ will be a unique show for SiriusXM, and I couldn’t think of a better time to launch a program spotlighting our nation’s leaders than in the heart of the 2016 election,” said SiriusXM President Scott Greenstein. “Mayor Philip Levine has both big ideas for his SiriusXM show and an equally big personality, and I’m confident his energy and sharp political mind will make ‘The Mayor’ a true asset to SiriusXM’s Talk line-up.”

Catching Levine’s show requires a paid membership to the satellite radio service, though subscribers will have access to episodes of The Mayor on demand through the SiriusXM app and website.
