Wes White’s fundraising flatlines in 4th Circuit State Attorney race

Wes White

The money race between challenger Wes White and incumbent 4th Circuit State Attorney Angela Corey has never been competitive, but March may be the starkest indicator yet of a gap between the two.

White raised just $1,000 in March, from Elizabeth White of St. Petersburg. Beyond that, he loaned his campaign $2,500.

Personal loans, now totaling $12,722, are all that’s keeping the White campaign afloat. White, in his 13 months in the race, has raised $30,260 and has spent $38,201.

Corey, with $203,000 cash on hand through March, has no such cash flow problems.

Corey raised $5,416 in March, bringing her total to $263,618, with donations from former Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford and Undersheriff Frank Mackesy among her new money.

Corey, who throughout this campaign has dealt with aggressive attacks from White, a former employee of her office, has managed to amass a tremendous advantage in money and earned media during this campaign nonetheless.

Her next earned media opportunity: a Monday newss conference with Mayor Lenny Curry and Sheriff Mike Williams, kicking off  Victims’ Rights Week.
