For months, Pinellas County Democrats had been searching for a candidate to take on Republican Kathleen Peters in her South Pinellas County based House District 69 seat, considered one of the more “swingy” in the state.

They finally snagged a candidate last month when Gulfport resident Jennifer Webb announced her candidacy. Whether she can seriously challenge the incumbent will be something to watch over the course of the year, but in the interim, Peters is moving forward.

The twice-elected representative raised $11,666. in April. She’s raised more than $141,000 overall, and has well more than $113,000 cash-on-hand.

House District 69 includes Gulfport, Madeira Beach, Pinellas Park, South Pasadena, St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and parts of St. Petersburg.
