Conservative Congress Now! spends big in support of Rebecca Negron in CD 18

A political committee backing Rebecca Negron has spent at least $85,000 in the past seven days on advertising in Florida’s 18th Congressional District.

Federal campaign finance records show “Conservative Congress Now!” spent at least $85,489 on direct mail, media placement and online advertising between Aug. 23 and Aug. 28. The expenses came just days before Tuesday’s primary, and could mark one final push for Negron in the district.

The committee, according to the Palm Beach Post, had spent $615,682 through Aug. 15. That money, the Palm Beach Post reported, was spent primarily on TV ads and direct mail in support of Negron.

Negron, the wife of Senate President Designate Joe Negron, is one of six Republicans in a crowded primary. She’ll face Carl Domino, Mark Freeman, Rick Kozell, Brian Mast and Noelle Nikpour on Tuesday.

Donors to “Conservative Congress Now!” include the Geo Group, a private prison company, and trial attorneys.

“Conservative Congress Now!” wasn’t the only political committee making last-minute expenditures in recent days.

The “Valor Fund,” a political committee backing Mast, spent $10,612 on mailers to oppose Negron on Aug. 25. On Aug. 26, it reported spending $74,000 on robocalls in support of Mast.

The “Treasure Coast Committee,” a political committee backing Freeman, reported spending $6,800 on printing, postage and digital advertising opposing Mast and Negron.
