The Lenny Curry mayoral transition proceeds apace, as Thursday his team announced that a former Jacksonville mayor and general counsel will chair the Jacksonville General Counsel Qualification Review Committee, while another former general counsel will be on the committee.

The panel was created because of a recently approved amendment to Duval County’s charter that calls for the appointment of a committee to recommend selection of the city’s general counsel.

The committee includes Mary Bland LoveFred D. Franklin, Jr., Rick Mullaney and Michael Tanner. John Delaney, former Jacksonville mayor, Jacksonville general counsel and University of North Florida president will chair the committee.

“In compliance with the new charter language, I’ve assembled a great team to guide in the selection of this important position,”  Mayor-elect Curry said. “I look forward to working with this team to ensure Jacksonville’s taxpayers have a talented legal adviser in city hall.”

Look for the committee’s recommendation to become public in early July, after Curry’s inauguration.
