LSN Communications launches Spanish-language ¿Qué Pasa, LSNC? political digest

LSN Communications announced Thursday the launch of its new project ¿Qué pasa, LSNC?, a daily digest of the most prominent local and state political news covered by Spanish-language media outlets in South Florida.

The concept behind ¿Qué pasa, LSNC? is simple: LSN Communications follows local and state political news covered by South Florida’s Spanish-language radio, TV shows and newspapers, and shares the highlights of their content via a daily email digest in English.

As the ¿Qué pasa, LSNC? tagline suggests, “Waking up to the other half of South Florida’s Political Conversation,” the goal of the newsletter is to keep the South Florida community, business and political stakeholders informed of the most important developments happening in our communities, regardless of what language it was delivered in.

After launching LSN Communications this year, partners Jesse Manzano-Plaza and Ben Pollara saw an opportunity to fill a void in political news by summarizing the Spanish-language news for those who don’t speak Spanish, or simply don’t have the time to tune in every day to the radio and TV shows.

“South Florida’s media market is unique: There are more TV and radio shows dedicated to covering current events, news and politics in Spanish than in English any day of the week,” said Manzano-Plaza. “When you add that to the fact that many of our elected officials speak Spanish and constantly participate as guests on these shows to discuss topics that are of interest to the entire community, we realized we could provide an invaluable service with ¿Qué pasa, LSNC?.”

“I constantly felt like I was missing out on half or more of what was being said and was trying to play catch-up with my colleagues who were always buzzing about the latest political interviews,” said Pollara, who is not a Spanish speaker. “I am interested in politics and our community, so the notion of having a daily newsletter with the ‘trending topics in Miami’s Spanish media’ as we dubbed it, sounded like the perfect idea.”

The daily newsletter is also published on the website www.quepasaLSNC.com, where readers are able to access the current newsletter, as well as previous posts.

Anyone interested in receiving ¿Qué pasa, LSNC? via e-mail can sign up on the website, and follow LSN Communications on Twitter at @LSNComm.
