Email insights: #UberIceCream gives fans the real scoop on Friday

UberApp

As summer hits its peak, every kid (of all ages) could always use a nice scoop of ice cream to cool off.

Popular ridesharing service Uber and Capital One Financial Corporation take frosty treats one step further this summer with the return of #UberIceCream.

In a new email promotion, Uber users and fans get an opportunity to chill out at home or the office with on-demand ice cream, a global promotion with local flavor “sweetened” by sponsor Capital One.

Just tap a button, and beat the heat with a brain freeze in hundreds of cities worldwide.

The campaign is simple. Open the Uber app between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, July 24. Set the location and request ICE CREAM.

To receive this sweet and chilly deal, users must have an eligible Capital One credit card as the payment method and enter promo code SWEETDEAL in the Uber app.

Once connected, instead of a ride, users will get 5 Tropicool-brand handmade gelato and sorbet treats (formed from scratch) delivered curbside in the Tampa Bay area for $22.50.

For those who don’t have a Capital One card, the email provides a link to apply for a Capital One Quicksilver to get 20 percent cash back on every Uber ride through April 2016.

Full offer details are at the Uber blog. Hours and pricing will vary in each city. Demand is expected to be high so availability could be limited.

The email concludes with a take on the well-worn summer: “We all scream for ice cream, after all.”
