More details emerge on Jax Neighborhoods department re-org

jacksonville - gorgeous

As Jacksonville’s City Council committees mull the first major re-org of the Lenny Curry era, the return of the Neighborhoods department, questions answered by the mayor’s office from the Council auditor’s office bear noticing.

One question regarded the Office of the Blight Initiative having a “Blight Officer.” An interesting question: What will the qualifications be for the officer?

Qualifications will not have to be codified, went the response, as a mayoral administrative aide will staff the office.

The same holds true for the Philanthropic Officer and Data Management and Analysis Officer. The Philanthropic Officer will be privately funded, as well, and won’t be part of the mayoral budget, which is “sufficient to cover the applicable staff.”

Current mayoral vacancies will be reclassified.

Jacksonville’s Rules Committee considers the re-org ordinance this afternoon.
