HD 11 hopeful Tom Taylor gets nod from seven Jax Beach Council members

Republican House District 11 candidate Tom Taylor picked up endorsements from six of the seven members of Jacksonville Beach Council, his campaign announced Monday.

Taylor is a former member of the council who served from 2008 through 2014 and is running in a crowded GOP primary for the HD 11 seat currently held by term-limited Republican Rep. Janet Adkins.

“The endorsements that matter most come from the people who know me best,” Taylor said. “This is what my campaign is all about, community. It was an honor serving with these individuals to make Jacksonville Beach a great place to live with low taxes, a balanced budget and safe street and neighborhoods. I am confident we will get an opportunity to work together again soon!”

The endorsements came from council members Lee Buck, Keith Doherty, Christine Hoffman, Bruce Thomason and Phil Vogelsang, as well as Jacksonville Beach Mayor Charlie Latham, who said Taylor “is the true definition of a public servant.”

“This race isn’t about a job or a leadership position in Tallahassee, it’s about making sure our community is ready to face the next phase of challenges,” Latham said. “I am endorsing Tom today because I know he is the best voice we could have.”

Taylor is currently in the middle of the pack in fundraising in the seven-way HD11 race. His $12,000 on hand total puts him far behind frontrunners Sherri Treadwell, who had more than $100,000 in her campaign account heading into April, and Donnie Horner, who had a little over $80,000 on hand through the same date.

Also running are Barry Holloway and Cord Byrd, both of whom had five-figure campaign accounts at the end of March, and Jack Daniels and newly filed Republican David Bunk, who each have less than $100 on hand.

This is a great read on the literacy of a candidate which could be a concern….. But, I guess by voting at the “poles” it may not matter. LOL!

    From: Tom Taylor

Dear Friends, Family and Jax Beach Citizens,

As we are getting hot and heavy into this election I want each of you to do some deep thinking. I applaud each and every candidate running and wanting to get involved in his or her city. In the next four years we will have some tough decisions as city leaders to make. Although it is easy to vote for a familiar name i ask you to think when casting your vote to not vote for popularity and not vote because of promises. Remember each individual that gets elected only has one vote. Sometimes promises are made cause new candidates don’t understand that.

First of all we need everyone to vote in the primary and if you have voters that are away or in college please send for a absentee ballot. Second please take a long hard look at each candidate and see what they are wanting to do to make our quality of life exceed all expectations without raising taxes. As a councilman and someone trying to keep Jax Beach financially sound with a great quality of life and candidates with a vision and a plan not just empty promises.

I am asking you as a friend, a tax paying citizen and your councilman to please go to the poles and vote for the two candidates that have these qualities and can help keep Jax Beach financially sound, Two candidates that care about getting safe streets and neighborhoods back, Two candidates that want to make this beach family friendly and also understand that our citizens need to be involved in decisions being made in the community.

Candidates can put thousands of signs out and they can advertise in every newspaper but that is not what gets you elected. As a lifetime resident and proud of our community however we still have alot to do i need your help I need each and everyone one of you to forward this to ten or more of your friends and tell them they need to vote they need to get there family to vote and they need to cast that vote for Charlie Latham for Mayor and Christine Hoffman for seat one. These two will make a difference I promise.

Thank you and please e-mail this to as many friends as you can and let them know you are supporting this candidate. When you e-mail your friends please include me just so i can see this is still being sent

    Thank you

    Tom Taylor
