Republican Berny Jacques announced Tuesday that he raised $21,140 last month for his campaign to succeed term limited Rep. Larry Ahern in House District 66.

The St. Petersburg attorney raised $16,000 of the new money through his campaign account and another $5,140 through his political committee, Protect Pinellas.

“Our campaign’s message of consistent, principled conservatism is resonating,” Jacques said. “Since announcing my candidacy just over a year ago, I’ve been both humbled and encouraged by the outpouring of support from voters across Pinellas. Our campaign is proud to have reached yet another fundraising milestone and we look forward to the months ahead!”

The March haul gives Jacques nearly $160,000 in total fundraising since he entered the race in March 2017. The new reports are not yet available through the Florida Division of Elections, and his campaign did not say how much it spent or how much it has on hand.

At the end of February, Jacques had $100,701 in the bank.

Jacques faces Belleair Bluffs businessman Nick DiCeglie in the Republican Primary. Also running for the seat are Democrat Alex Hereen and Reform Party candidate Paul Anthony Bachmann.

None of the other candidates have reported their March numbers.

At the end of February, DiCeglie had raised a total to $90,354 and had $72,216 on hand, while Hereen had about $5,600 in the bank and Bachmann $345.

HD 66 is a safe Republican district. It covers part of western Pinellas County, including Clearwater, Belleair, Indian Rocks Beach and Indian Shores.
