Panhandle lawyer Lawrence Keefe was sworn in Wednesday as the United States attorney for a large swath of North Florida, nearly five months after being nominated by President Donald Trump.
Keefe will be the top federal prosecutor in a 23-county region stretching from Escambia County to Alachua County and including areas such as Tallahassee and Panama City.
He replaces Christopher Canova, who had served as U.S. attorney since 2015.
Keefe, of Shalimar, was a partner in the firm Keefe, Anchors & Gordon. The U.S. Senate confirmed Keefe’s appointment Jan. 2.
