Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political committee reeled in $430,016 from more than 30 different contributors, including Disney and ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, in May, according to information first posted on the Friends of Ron DeSantis political committee’s website.
This information was confirmed Monday, as the committee filed its numbers with the state of Florida.
The amount raised by the Republican Governor’s political committee in May makes up more than half of the total amount raised since the beginning of December.
The largest May donations came from Disney Worldwide Service and the Florida Chamber of Commerce PAC, each of which contributed $50,000 to the governor’s political committee.
Adrian Fernandez, a Mexican race car driver, also contributed $10,000 in late May.
Fundraising wrapped up before the Governor’s trip to Israel at the end of the month.
Since DeSantis assumed office on Jan. 10, he has raised $850,000 through his political committee.
The committee has $842,000 of that on hand.
Because Florida House and Senate rules do not allow lawmakers to raise money while the Legislature is in session, political fundraising tends to be pared back during those months.
The Governor is not bound by those rules, but campaign finance numbers show a slow fundraising period from early March through early May, when this year’s Legislative Session took place. During that time, DeSantis received a total of $270,500 in contributions to his political committee.
