Though many Northeast Florida state legislators put fundraising on the back burner in May, state Rep. Jason Fischer was not among them.

Fischer, a Jacksonville Republican seeking his third term in House District 16, raised $13,500 between his campaign account and political committee last month.

The campaign account saw four contributions totaling $4,000, including maximum $1,000 donations from the Association of Florida Community Developers and the Committee of Florida Agents.

Spending offset about half of those receipts. The campaign paid $350 for accounting work, while the balance was used to reimburse Fischer for campaign and mileage expenses.

Thus far, Fischer has raised an even $60,000 for his campaign account. The ledger showed $37,875 on hand as of May 31.

Fischer’s political committee, Conservative Solutions for Jacksonville, brought in the remaining $9,500, giving it roughly $13,000 on hand.

Of that sum, $5,000 came from charter school interests.

Red Apple Development, a Ft. Lauderdale company involved in charter school construction and real estate transactions, donated $2,500. Charter Schools USA, which runs many facilities, donated the other $2,500.

The new committee report also shows $4,000 in spending, including $1,000 a check to the re-election fund of freshman Rep. Chip LaMarca, a Lighthouse Point Republican, with another $2,000 heading to the Republican Party of Duval County.

Fischer has a good shot at re-election in what is a safe Republican seat. In 2018, he defeated Democrat Ken Organes by 17 percent in the general. Two years prior, no Democrat bothered to run.

Currently, Fischer is the only candidate who has filed for the 2020 cycle.
