More than 3,000 Tampa Bay homes have received efficiency and hurricane resiliency upgrades thanks to PACE financing provided by Ygrene Energy Fund.

The company said the projects were completed in Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties.

“With more than 3,000 PACE projects completed across seven counties, it’s clear that PACE is working in Tampa Bay,” said Mike Lemyre, Ygrene’s Senior Vice President of Government Affairs.

“Ygrene could not be prouder to have partnered with thousands of families across Tampa Bay to help finance and complete hundreds of energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements, and more than 1,300 projects to improve the strength and hurricane resiliency of their homes.

“The growth of PACE in Tampa is great news and a testament to the true value of this essential public policy in Florida.”

Short for Property Assessed Clean Energy, PACE allows homeowners to borrow money for energy-efficient home improvements such as new windows, rooftop solar panels and hurricane resiliency projects, among other things.

Unlike traditional financing, homeowners pay back the cost through assessments on their property tax bill.

Ygrene estimates the projects it’s completed in the Tampa Bay have made a $47 million economic impact — including 1,226 new jobs created and $17 million in lifetime insurance premium savings.

The projects have also added a combined 1.7 megawatts of solar panels, preventing more than 61,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
