State Sen. Joe Gruters is getting some help raising money for his 2020 reelection campaign.
Next month, Senate President Bill Galvano, Senate President-designate Wilton Simpson and Majority Leader Kathleen Passidomo, who recently won the 2022-24 Senate President race, will host a campaign fundraiser benefitting Gruters.
The event will be held at the Governors Club in Tallahassee on Dec. 9, which coincides with the final interim committee week ahead of the 2020 Legislative Session, which begins Jan. 14.
More information on the fundraiser is available with an RSVP.
Gruters, who chairs the Republican Party of Florida, was elected to Senate District 23 in a 2018 special election to replace now-U.S. Rep. Greg Steube.
SD 23 covers all of Sarasota County and part of Charlotte County and has a strong Republican advantage.
In 2016, Steube won the seat with 59% of the vote. Last year, Gruters defeated Democratic nominee Faith Olivia Babis with 57 percent of the vote.
Gruters is currently running unopposed and, as of Oct. 31, he had about $114,000 of hard money in the bank.
