Tampa International Airport nabs another best of award

TIA

Hopping on a plane anytime soon? It might be a good idea to catch a flight out of Tampa International Airport. The airport was naimed North America’s second best airport by Airports Council International.

TIA also nabbed the number five spot in the world for customer satisfaction among airports serving 15-25 million passengers.

Airport Service Quality is a global benchmarking program that compiles data about airports worldwide serving more than 3 billion passengers. The data includes how passengers rate their airport’s services, how it compares to others around the world by traffic type, size and region, and passenger perceptions and priorities.

The Tampa data came from a random sampling of 1,200 TIA passengers each quarter. Tampa’s main airport is one of 43 measured in North America and 200 in other parts of the world.

“The jump from No. 3 in North America last year to No. 2 this year is truly a testament to TPA’s ongoing dedication to customer service at every level, despite the many construction projects and growth we’ve experienced over the past few years,” Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said through Communications Manager Emily Nipps. “Because customer satisfaction is such a top priority at TPA, I have no doubt we’ll be able to maintain high levels of service even during the largest expansion program in airport history.”

This isn’t the first time TIA has nabbed key accolades. It’s consistently ranked a top airport by Conde Nast Magazine. Just this month the airport won the 2014 Routes Marketing Award for the Americas as well as a couple of other smaller awards during the annual Routes Americas forum in Santa Ana, El Salvador.

TIA continues to expand with recent additions including flights to Switzerland, Panama, Seattle and Cuba.
