Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown says he will debate Lenny Curry two times before the runoff election May 19. Brown will debate Curry on WJXT-TV on May 12, reversing a statement issued Friday.

That means there will be debates back to back during the week before Election Day. The First Coast News debate is May 13.

On Sunday, Brown’s Campaign Manager Isaiah Nelson said via a prepared statement:

“Mayor Brown is passionate about sharing his vision for Jacksonville’s future across the city. On Friday, the campaign incorrectly declined the debate invitation from WJXT and Jacksonville University. We are correcting the record now.

“The Mayor is very pleased to announce that he will participate in the WJXT/JU debate. He thanks Channel 4 and Jacksonville University for hosting and looks forward to the discussion.”
