South Florida U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy will be in Tampa’s Davis Islands next month for a fundraiser to be held by former City Councilwoman Linda Saul-Sena.
Murphy, a two-term representative from Jupiter, is running for the Democratic nomination for Senate against Orlando-area U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson. Despite the fact that nearly the entire Florida Democratic Party establishment is backing the 32-year-old, he trails Grayson in the most recent poll taken by Florida Atlantic University, 27 percent to 20 percent.
Murphy has avoided commenting on a story posted on The New York Times website on Thursday that reports on how Grayson’s role as a hedge fund manager and member of Congress were intertwined. The story refers to how Grayson “promoted his international travels, some with congressional delegations, to solicit business.”
The fundraiser at the home of Mark and Linda Saul-Sena at 5:30 p.m. March 3.
