Carlos Lopez-Cantera is hitting the road for a jobs-focused campaign swing in early April.

Lopez-Cantera, the state’s lieutenant governor and a Republican Senate hopeful, will kick off his “Florida First Tour” on April 4. The Miami Republican’s campaign said the tour will give Lopez-Cantera a chance to meet with Floridians to talk about job creation, economic opportunity, education and veterans’ services.

Lopez-Cantera is one of five Republicans vying to replace Sen. Marco Rubio in the United States Senate. Rubio, a Miami Republican, said he was forgoing a re-election bid, running for president instead.

Rubio ended his presidential bid on Tuesday. He returned to Washington, D.C., on Thursday.

Lopez-Cantera announced he was running for Senate in July. In 2014, Gov. Rick Scott selected Lopez-Cantera to be his lieutenant governor. Before being selected as Scott’s No. 2, Lopez-Cantera served as the Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser. He served in the Florida House from 2004 until 2012, spending two years as the Majority Leader.
