Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings has received the endorsement of the International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce for his quest to become county mayor.
The chamber’s board of directors said it gave its endorsement to Demings after interviewing all the potential candidates, which include Winter Park businessman Rob Panepinto and Orange County Commissioner Pete Clarke.
“The International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce … believes that Jerry Demings possesses the experience, vision and leadership that it will take to move Orange County forward and make Orange County a great Place to work and play,” I-Drive Chamber President Maria Triscari stated in a news release issued by Demings’ campaign on Thursday.
“We encourage all our members to vote for Jerry Demings for the next mayor of Orange County,” she added.
Demings, Panepinto, Clarke and two other candidates are running in the non-partisan election to succeed Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, who is leaving due to term limits.
