Rick Scott wants Secret Service, DHS in Senate committee to ‘provide answers’ in wake of Donald Trump shooting

The Naples Republican wants to hear from the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security before Aug. 1.

“The security of our Republic is being questioned, and we as a nation need answers.”

That’s the sobering conclusion one of Florida’s U.S. Senator draws. In that context, he wants a hearing this month in the wake of the assassination attempt of GOP nominee and former President Donald Trump.

“The assassination attempt on President Trump and murder of an innocent American demands immediate answers from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Secret Service,” said Rick Scott Saturday night.

“It is a miracle that President Trump is alive and well but inexcusable that the deranged would-be assassin had a direct line of sight to the former President and the leading candidate for President of the United States. The U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (HSGAC) has an oversight responsibility and an obligation to the American people to demand answers from DHS and the U.S. Secret Service on how this happened and what steps are being taken to investigate this assassination attempt and make sure it never happens again,” Scott added.

Scott adds that the hearing must happen before Aug. 1, with “testimony from these agencies (who must) deliver the answers that we, as U.S. Senators and the American people, demand and deserve from our government.”

Scott offered other unambiguous comments in the wake of Trump’s shooting, including taking the current President to task for an insufficient response to the incident.

“Biden’s speech was not the inspiring, unifying speech that’s necessary from the President of the United States in this moment. He can’t even say it was an assassination attempt. That’s not leadership,” Scott said.

He also blamed the political left and the media for stoking tensions.

Democrats and liberals in the media have called Trump a fascist. They’ve compared him to Hitler. They’ve tried to lock him up. They tried to remove his Secret Service protection. Just this week, Biden said he wanted to put Trump in the crosshairs. This isn’t some unfortunate incident. This was an assassination attempt by a madman inspired by the rhetoric of the radical left,” Scott added.

    Dear Rick,

You and your party have flooded our communities with guns, especially the AR-15 type semi-automatic used in this tragedy. You bear some responsibility for the mass shootings that plague this nation.

Perhaps it’s time to admit that America had a gun problem.

How do you propose to get rid of them? Of course they would never be available on the black market.

In other words, do nothing but watch the carnage continue.

Isn’t that the truth on guns and why call them to congress while the investigation into the shooting has barely begun. Give them time to complete it. My goodness!

Oh Rick! What inspiring unifying speech has Trump ever given? The 2017 American carnage Inauguration speech? Why must you always expect more from the opposition than you are willing to demonstrate?

Alien Rick has NO class! Whoever wrote this drivel should be ashamed. I am ashamed that Rick is our US Senator. Of course the SS and DHS should evaluate how the shooter was able to take some shots at a Tramp rally. They know that. Duh. To criticize President Biden is a wholly un-American cheap shot. He quickly made a televised address expressing concern for the victims and calling for peace and unity. Not Rick however as he takes no responsibility for the lack of sensible assault rifle regulations and his comments only serve to pour gasoline on the flames of disharmony in our Nation. Screw off Rick and I can’t wait for you to lose in November. You suck.

Rick is part of the reason America is awash in guns. So how can anyone go out in public anywhere in this country and not be a potential target and how can the secret service be expected to change or prevent that?
As for the GOP conspiracy talk, most Democrats want Trump to be the GOP nominee and most Republicans want Biden to be the Dems nominee because both are imminently defeatable, so let’s stop with Scott’s usual nonsense.

Rick Scott is an embarrassment to common sense thinking Americans. Did the secret service select this outdoor open air venue for a rally …… or was it selected by the GQP. Honestly….. Republicans are incapable at vetting individual candidates, White House staff, Cabinet members and now rally venues.

    Republicans are America’s worst enemy!
Vote all Republicans out of office!
