Whip out the checkbooks, Tallahassee lobbyists and PAC chairs, as a new week begins with a handful of legislators’ re-election fundraisers.
State law prohibits legislators from raising money during session, so every week leading up to the 2015 Session will offer a number of fundraising receptions.
Many of them are mere steps from the Florida Capitol.
The week begins with a Monday afternoon event supporting the House District 57 re-election effort for Republican state Rep. Jake Raburn. Event begins 5 p.m. at the Beer Industry of Florida headquarters, 110 S. Monroe St., Suite B in Tallahassee.
On Tuesday, the fundraising schedule heats up with three Governors Club events and one at the Governors Inn, starting at 5 p.m. with a joint reception for Republican state Reps. Dan Raulerson of District 58, David Santiago of District 27 and Ross Spano of District 59. The joint reception begins 5 p.m. at the Governors Club Private Dining Room, 202 ½ S. Adams St. in Tallahassee.
Meanwhile, another event takes place Tuesday for the re-elections of Republican state Reps. Bryan Avila of District 111, Heather Fitzenhagen of District 78 and Rene Plasencia of District 49. Reception starts also at 5 p.m. in the Governors Club BC Room at 202 ½ S. Adams St. in Tallahassee.
Former state Rep. Travis Hutson will also be on hand nearby Tuesday to raise money for his Senate District 6 campaign. Hutson’s event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Governors Inn Boardroom, 209 S. Adams St. in Tallahassee.
Later Tuesday evening, four freshmen Tampa Bay-area legislators are hosting another joint re-election fundraising event: Republican state Reps. Chris Latvala of District 67, Chris Sprowls of District 65, newly elected Republican Party of Florida Chairman Blaise Ingoglia of District 35, and Danny Burgess of District 38. Reception begins 7 p.m. in the Governors Club Library, 202 S. Adams St. in Tallahassee.
