New polling says that the further left you are, the more likely you are to leave the Sunshine State.

A Florida Atlantic University survey shows a majority of Democrats and Kamala Harris voters in Florida say they are at least “somewhat” likely to move elsewhere between now and 2030.

A full 26.4% of Democrats say it’s “very likely” they move in the next five years, while 32% say it’s “somewhat likely,” a total topping 58%.

This compares to just 25% of Republicans saying it’s at least “somewhat likely” they move away from the Free State of Florida.

The split replicates when it comes to presidential preference, with 31.9% of Harris supporters saying it’s somewhat likely they leave the state, and 24.7% of them saying it’s very likely.

Meanwhile, just 17.3% of Donald Trump supporters deem it somewhat likely they will move away, while an additional 9.5% saying it’s very likely.

Mainstreet Research polled 961 Florida voters between April 4 and 9 for this survey.

The question(s) should be why. Home insurance? Health care costs? Congestion? Costs of housing? Jobs? Well paid jobs?educstion? Teachers salaries? It’s not really a partisan issue…there are many cracks showing in Florida economics that are making people consider why live here.

That’s the question alright. I find that if I don’t watch the news, I’m pretty happy. Watch the news and it’s all shootings, car jackings, hit and runs etc. not to mention the points you made. Politics aside, the quality of life here is turning not what it used to be. Throw in the hurricanes and I’m sure plenty of folks consider moving.

  • You didn’t ask them WHY. For most of us, anyway, life simply happens.

Moving out-of-state is not always related to love or hate for Florida. Usually, moving is because of something much more personal and specific.
(For example, I moved from my beloved NH, back to Taxachusetts, because my mother died and Dad was quite obviously withering on the vine. Six months later, a house full of kids and three cats had brought him back from the dead. We moved back to NH and he eloped with a former girlfriend from high school. Go figure).
