Republicans lead in Duval’s early voting

As of Monday morning, the first early voting count trend, combined with voting by mail, remains Republican, which bodes well in theory for Lenny Curry and other Republicans down the ticket.

With a little more than 29,000 votes recorded as of 10:45 a.m., GOP voters had cast almost half: 14,491. The remainder is split between Democrats (10,892 voters) and non-party affiliated voters (3,637 voters).

Early voting was a strength for the Brown campaign in 2011. It hopes to replicate that success in the next two weeks.

On Monday, at the Legends Center on Soutel, the Brown campaign kicks off early voting with a fish fry, feeding those with an I Voted sticker. A similar event, heralding the start of early voting was heldat the Beaches on Sunday. Meanwhile, on Friday, the Brown campaign had a GOTV rally targeted to Hispanic voters, featuring speeches from Luis Guiterrez and Corrine Brown.
