Tracy Pafford, wife of House Minority Leader Mark Pafford, has ended the 2016 campaign to replace her term-limited husband in House District 86.
In January, Tracy Pafford filed a Democratic campaign account for the seat, which covers parts of Palm Beach County.
Since then, the Palm Beach Post reports that Pafford received endorsements from Palm Beach County Commissioner Paulette Burdick, Tax Collector Anne Gannon, County Clerk/Comptroller Sharon Bock.
Pafford, in interviews with reporters, on her campaign website and Facebook page, claimed “unforeseen circumstances” are the reason she ended her campaign.
District 86 gives Democrats a registration advantage over Republicans of 43-to-28 percent. Other Democrats who filed campaign accounts include Wellington Councilman Matt Willhite and Royal Palm Beach business executive Tinu Pena. Republican Stuart Mears, who lost to Mark Pafford in 2014 with 40.2 percent of the vote, also filed for a 2016 bid.
