Duval Dems Early Vote margin increases

Curry Brown Slugfest

To no one’s real surprise, the raw vote margin between Democrats and Republicans increased on Monday. The spread (30,793 – 30,307) looks likely to pass 500 votes early on Tuesday.

“Other” votes, meanwhile, look like they will be the deciding factor; thus far, 7,961 of those have been cast.

Both mayoral campaigns are making plays for the independent vote. Alvin Brown‘s messaging continually refers to his history of working with “Republicans, Democrats, and Independents,” and as seen in Monday night’s debate, he obviously intends to hammer home the history of Lenny Curry as Republican Party of Florida chair.

Curry, meanwhile, is making the argument that Brown hasn’t led effectively throughout the last four years, and has secured the endorsement of former Councilman Johnny Gaffney to show his appeal with some Democrats.

One debate, on Thursday night, remains between these two candidates.

Early Voting totals on Monday, for all locations, added up to 2,861 votes. Votes by mail still exceed in-person Early Votes by a substantial margin: 39,945 – 29,077.
