Former state Rep. Loranne Ausley will hold an event at Tuesday evening to launch her bid to succeed Rep. Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda in Ausley’s erstwhile District 9 House seat.
Ausley — a voluminous fundraiser, particularly for a Democrat — lists several Capitol regulars on her host committee, still in formation.
Longtime pol and former Florida State University President Sandy D’Alemberte will be there with his wife Patsy Palmer, as will Paul Mitchell of the heavyweight influence firm Southern Strategy Group, along with a slew of sitting and former elected officials. They’ll include Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, Leon County Commissioners Nick Maddox and Bill Proctor, and Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Allison Tant and her husband, lawyer Barry Richards.
The event will run 5 to 7 p.m. at Goodwood Museum & Gardens at 1600 Miccosukee Road in the heart of her district, based in metro Tallahassee and its many vote-rich suburbs to the north.
By state law, contributions are limited to $1,000 per person or entity.
The band W2 — local musicians Walker Webb and Will Holloman — will provide entertainment. Holloman is Ausley’s son and according to a source, one hell of a drummer.
