Developers give big money in Miami Beach Commission race

Developers in Miami Beach are making big contributions to a term-limited city commissioner’s new political action committee.

The Miami Herald reports that the newly formed committed, headed by Commissioner Jonah Wolfson, has raised $500,000 from developers and vendors in just 30 days.

Area voters will elect three new commissioners and decide whether to re-elect the city’s mayor in elections this fall.

The newspaper reported that much of the $500,000 came from developers with significant interests in Miami Beach. An Argentinian developer who is building a project on six blocks of beach property donated $100,000. Another major contributor is a hotel builder.
