Rick Scott announces long list of Tampa Bay-area board appointments

After the Florida Senate’s inability to consider reappointments by the 2015 Regular Legislative Session sine die, Gov. Rick Scott announced 112 reappointments to various boards and commissions throughout the state, including these from the Tampa Bay region:

Board of Athletic Training

Brian Hudson, 51, of St. Petersburg, is vice president of sales and marketing for Pyramid Healthcare Solutions. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.

Board of Directors, Enterprise Florida, Inc.

Jesse Biter, 39, of Sarasota, is chief executive officer of Biter Enterprises. His reappointment is for a term ending Sept. 30, 2018.

Board of Medicine

Gary Dolin, 63, of Bradenton, is an ophthalmologist with The Eye Depot. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.

Board of Nursing

Leonard Connors, 62, of Plant City, is a self-employed attorney. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018.

Board of Orthotists and Prothetists

David Cheong, 41, of Tampa, is an orthopedic oncologist with the Orthopaedic Associates of West Florida. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2017.

Board of Professional Geologists

Louie Bush, 65, of Lakeland, is the southeast regional manager for Underground Imaging Technology, a Caterpillar affiliate. His reappointment is for a term ending Oct. 31, 2018. 

Florida Commission on Community Service (Volunteer Florida)

Maritza Rovira Forino, 64, of Tampa, is the business development manager for Foresight Construction Group Inc. She is reappointed for a term ending Sept. 14, 2017.

Florida Elections Commission

Thomas Scott, 61, of Tampa, is the senior pastor at 34th Street Church of God. He is reappointed for a term ending Dec. 31, 2016.

Florida State University Board of Trustees

Brent Sembler, 57, of Pinellas Park, is the vice chairman of the Sembler Co. He is reappointed for a term ending Jan. 6, 2020.

Southwest Florida Water Management District

Jeffrey Adams, 56, of St. Petersburg, is an attorney with Abbey, Adams, Byelick, and Mueller LLP. He is reappointed for a term ending March 1, 2018.

Elijah “Ed” Armstrong, 58, of Dunedin, is an attorney with Hill Ward Henderson. He is reappointed for a term ending March 1, 2018.

Randall “Randy” Maggard, 51, of Zephyrhills, is the vice president of Sonny’s Discount Appliances Inc. He is reappointed for a term ending March 1, 2019.

Michael “Mike” Moran, 46, of Sarasota, is the owner of Blue Water Insurance Group. He is reappointed for a term ending March 1, 2019.

Henry “Paul” Senft, 75, of Haines City, is the president of Townsend-Senft Consulting and Insurance Inc. He is reappointed for a term ending March 1, 2019.

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota District Board of Trustees

John “Bob” Long, 75, of Sarasota, is the chief executive officer of Marine Concepts. He is reappointed for a term ending May 31, 2018.

St. Petersburg College District Board of Trustees

Deveron Gibbons, 42, of St. Petersburg, is the vice president of public affairs and business development for AMSCOT. He is reappointed for a term ending May 31, 2018.

University of South Florida Board of Trustees

Jordan Zimmerman, 59, of Boca Raton, is the founder and chairman of Zimmerman Advertising. He is reappointed for a term ending Jan. 6, 2020.

All appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
