Phil AmmannFather’s Day gives children (of all ages) a chance to honor the chief man in their lives; devoted dads who provided guidance, inspiration, and love.
First-term Democratic Congresswoman Gwen Graham knows a thing or two about inspirational fathers; hers is former Governor and U.S. Sen. Bob Graham – a North Florida political icon beloved by many.
But to Gwen, “he’s always just been Dad.”
“When I was growing up, my dad was my role model,” Gwen Graham says in a Father’s Day message to supporters. “I watched as he devoted his life to improving the lives of hardworking families across Florida.”
As Gov. Graham is now in retirement, his daughter – and political prodigy – says he is still “finding new ways to keep busy” helping the people of Florida, the people he loves so much.
“It didn’t matter if he was in Tallahassee or Washington — he always made time for my sisters and me growing up,” she adds. “And now, whether it’s a soccer game or a graduation, he never misses an important moment in the lives of my three children. It’s given me so much joy to watch their relationships grow.”
Graham’s love for her father is resounding: “Plain and simple, I wouldn’t be who I am today without him.”
She closes her message with one hope: for everyone to take the day “thanking all the dads out there” for the important work they do and the “irreplaceable” role play in our lives.
With the love from his daughter, Bob Graham is indeed blessed.
