Some of Jacksonville’s most influential Republicans will appear at a fundraiser next week to support Jason Fischer in his bid for Duval County House District 16.
The afternoon reception begins Monday, June 29 at 5:00 p.m. at the Epping Forest Yacht Club, 1830 Epping Forest Drive in Jacksonville.
With nearly 40 hosts listed, the event will feature a number of high-profile GOP luminaries, including State Sens. Rob Bradley and Travis Hutson; state Rep. Travis Cummings; former Education Commissioner Jim Horne; John Rood, the former Ambassador to The Bahamas; lobbyist Mary Fiorentino and GOP operative Susie Wiles. Also in attendance will be Fel Lee and Scott Shine, who each served with Fischer on the Duval County School Board; Ronnie Fussell, the Duval County Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts; and Kathleen Shanahan, the one-time chief of staff to former Gov. Jeb Bush.
For the August 2016 GOP primary, Fischer— the youngest person ever elected to the Duval County School Board – will face Republican Dick Kravitz for the district that includes downtown Jacksonville and most of Duval County. So far, the race has not drawn a Democratic challenger.
The Maverick Political Action Committee recently named Fischer to its annual “Future 40 Award,” choosing him as one of the future Republican leaders in politics.
