Veteran communications consultant Tami Torres-Fillyaw has joined the Tallahassee-based Wilson & Associates as new vice president of Marketing and Communications.
Wilson & Associates, established in 2004, is a lobbying and association management firm specializing in energy, construction, infrastructure, and defense industries.
Fillyaw has been with the firm for the past six months as a consultant in marketing, message development, media relations, digital and social media, event planning, and member recruitment.
“Tami has proven to be an invaluable member of the team and possesses the skills, experience and relationships that are a perfect match for the level and breadth of services we offer our clients,” W&A President Robert Wilson said. “We are thrilled she has joined the team and will be a dedicated resource for our clients.”
Fillyaw brings more than 23 years of experience in government relations and strategic communications, media relations, issue advocacy, and stakeholder engagement in the executive and legislative branches of government, trade associations and nonprofits. Previously, she had worked in the offices of Florida’s last three state chief financial officers, and most recently as deputy chief financial officer under Jeff Atwater.
Prior to her career in state government, Fillyaw was communications director for the Majority Office in the Florida Senate under both Locke Burt and Jack Latvala. She also spent five years handling communications and marketing for the Florida Association of Counties.
