Dennis Ross endorses David Jolly for U.S. Senate

U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross has endorsed fellow U.S. Rep. David Jolly in his bid to replace Marco Rubio in the U.S. Senate.

Ross, a Lakeland Republican, represents Florida’s 15th Congressional District, which covers much of Central Florida, Hillsborough and Polk Counties.

David Jolly is a principled and thoughtful conservative and a passionate advocate for veterans and businesses across Pinellas County and the Tampa Bay region,” Ross said in a prepared statement Monday. “Since being elected, David has proven to be an effective representative and I am confident he will bring the same energy as the next U.S. Senator from the State of Florida.”

In thanking him for his support, Jolly called it an honor to work along a conservative champion like Ross.

“Congressman Ross and I share a commitment to advancing conservative principles while restoring a sense of responsibility back to Washington,” he said. “It’s the conviction with which we each serve in the House and the conviction I intend to take to the U.S. Senate.”

Jolly has represented Florida’s 13th Congressional District since 2014, when he won a special election to finish the term of the late U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young, for whom he was general counsel until 2007. Jolly was re-elected in November 2014.

Before election to Congress, Jolly was vice president of a specialty finance firm and chief executive officer of a Clearwater-based professional services company.
