Caitlin Murray has been tapped as director of government affairs for the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
Murray, picked as one of the “30 under 30″ rising stars in Florida politics by SaintPetersBlog, began her new role effective Monday.
According to OIR Commissioner Kevin McCarty, Murray will handle oversight of the agency’s government affairs initiatives in both the Legislature and Cabinet.
“I am excited to join the Office and honored to work with Commissioner McCarty,” Murray said. “I look forward to increasing my knowledge of Florida’s regulatory environment and the challenges facing the insurance industry while bringing a greater understanding of these important issues to the Florida Legislature and Cabinet.”
A graduate of Florida State University, Murray has built a solid political résumé through working with Fowler White Boggs, the Republican Party of Florida, the Dorothy Hukill for State Senate campaign, and state Sens. Jeff Brandes and JD Alexander.
“The Office welcomes Caitlin and the wealth of knowledge and experience she brings concerning the legislative process,” McCarty said in a statement. “She will be a strong asset to our leadership team and help the Office to raise awareness about the many important issues affecting the insurance industry in today’s marketplace.”
