Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam and St. Johns County Tax Collector Dennis W. Hollingsworth jointly announced Monday that participating tax collectors throughout Florida will expand concealed weapon license services to include renewals.

“We’re making both the application and renewal process for concealed weapon licenses even more convenient for Floridians,” Putnam said in a prepared statement. “I thank all of our partnering tax collectors for their willingness to extend our services at their locations throughout the state.”

“This is an example of true leadership from the state level. Commissioner Putnam identified the inconvenience and difficulty involved with the public attempting to secure their Concealed Weapons License. Therefore, he and his agency reached out to the tax collectors, realizing their agencies were more conveniently spread out throughout the state. We thank Commissioner Putnam for the partnership with his agency to serve the public more efficiently,” Hollingsworth said.

Anyone who has moved since the issuance of their concealed weapon license should update his or her address online at FreshFromFlorida.com. The 13 tax collectors participating in both the application and renewal processes for concealed weapon licenses include the following counties: Walton, Hillsborough, Martin, St. Johns, Brevard, Marion, Lee, Pinellas, Pasco, Highlands, Okaloosa, Indian River and Nassau. Since the partnership with tax collectors began, 14,711 concealed weapon license applications have been accepted by tax collector offices.

Florida concealed weapon licenses are processed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. To make the process more convenient for Floridians, tax collector offices have been given authority to take applications, fingerprint the applicants and send the information securely to the department for final determination. There are more than 1.4 million concealed weapon licenses in Florida.

Additionally, Putnam said in July the department is expediting concealed weapon license applications for all active military members and veterans. For information, visit FreshFromFlorida.com
