After burst of activity, Jack Latvala committee brings in $250K for Aug.

JackLatvala

The committee supporting Republican Sen. Jack Latvala’s bid for the senate presidency brought in more than $250,000 in contributions following an explosion of activity in the closing week of August.

More than $200,000 of the $251,659 raised by Florida Leadership Committee came through in the final seven days of the month. The flurry of donations includes $20,000 from the Florida Retail Federation and $10,000 checks from the Associated Industries of Florida, ABC Liquor, Dosal Tobacco, Costa Farms alongside many others.

The banner month rocketed FLC’s cash on-hand total ahead of Treasure Coast Alliance, the committee supporting Stuart Republican Sen. Joe Negron for the top post in the senate. TCA’s $26,000 haul for August puts the committee at just over $1.1 million cash on-hand, while FLC sits at more than $1.25 million – the first clear lead for the committee in months.

The fundraising victory comes just two weeks after Negron announced he had all the votes he needed secure the presidency, listing 13 senate Republicans as confirmed pledges. Shortly after the announcement, a Senate spokeswoman confirmed the chamber will vote for its next president on Nov. 30 while the Legislature is in Tallahassee for committee meetings.
