Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam says he’s expanding the “Fresh From Florida: On the Menu” program, meaning more restaurants will be highlighting state-produced produce, seafood and other foodstuffs.
Putnam announced the move in a press release on Thursday.
The new eateries in the program include Blue Bamboo and Grinders American Diner in Jacksonville, BellaBrava and Stillwaters Tavern in St. Petersburg, the 101 Restaurant in Tallahassee, and 30 locations of the BurgerFi gourmet hamburger chain throughout Florida.
A total of 75 eateries now are in the statewide promotional program.
The additions resulted from a new partnership with the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association (FRLA). The “hospitality industry” trade group represents more than 10,000 members across the state.
“We look forward to ensuring that every Floridian and visitor can enjoy fresh Florida cuisine,” Putnam said in a statement.
Added FRLA President and CEO Carol Dover: “We … are thrilled to help support this wonderful program that gives Floridians and visitors another opportunity to enjoy dining experiences at exceptional establishments.”
From the press release:
“Fresh From Florida: On The Menu” restaurants feature delicious, fresh ingredients from Florida, including produce grown by local farmers and seafood caught in Florida’s waters. Restaurants must apply with the department and certify that they are sourcing products from Florida. Once part of the free program, members can use the iconic “Fresh From Florida” logo in promotional materials as well as their menu. For more information, visit FreshFromFlorida.com.
