Today, the Florida Teamsters endorsed Patrick Murphy‘s campaign for the U.S. Senate, citing his commitment to fighting for the middle class. Congressman Murphy made the following statement:
“I’m humbled and excited by the support of the Florida Teamsters. Florida’s working families need leadership — from the local level to the U.S. Senate to the White House — that will fight every day for them, and no one else. I’m running to grow the middle class, and that starts with the unions who built our middle class.”
“Patrick Murphy is exactly the leader Florida’s working families need right now,” said Ken Wood, International Vice President and President of Teamsters Joint Council 75. “Unlike anyone else in this race, he will put politics aside in the U.S. Senate and get things done for the middle class.”
Wood noted that as a member of Congress, Murphy has already fought to strengthen the middle class by opposing trade deals that would hurt American workers, and that Murphy will continue working to strengthen Medicare and Social Security.
“I’m confident in Patrick, and so are the hardworking men and women of the Teamsters,” Wood said.
Teamsters Joint Council 75 encompasses 11 local unions within Florida, Georgia and southern Alabama, representing more than 38,000 members
