Email insights: Ruth’s List celebrates election wins, but there’s more to do

With any election, no matter how you slice it, somebody comes out on top.

In the 2015 elections, Ruth’s List Florida had a good night. And by the next day, there was an email showing they were ready to boast.

“Ruth’s List-endorsed candidate, Lisa Wheeler-Brown won her election for St. Petersburg City Council and Kristin Rosen Gonzalez secured a first-place finish in a crowded field for Miami Beach Commissioner,” the email read. Neither candidate would have won without the help of the people; for that, the folks at Ruth’s List are grateful.

However, even though their chosen candidates may have won, the work is not yet over.

Rosen Gonzalez will now face her opponent in the final runoff election Nov. 17.

Of course, that means money.

As a single mother and small-business person, as well as a Ruth’s List Advisory Board member, she has the full support of the organization. But any group is only as good as its members (and their wallets).

With only two weeks left, both time and money are short.

Ruth’s List wants to keep its winning streak going, but they can’t do it alone.

Because for any election, coming out on top is rarely cheap.
