A new Florida Atlantic University statewide poll shows Democratic U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy faring well against two of the four GOP Senate candidates running in 2016.
The poll shows that Murphy, the Democratic congressman from Florida’s Treasure Coast first elected in 2012, has a 9-point lead over Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera in the contest, 39 to 30 percent, with 31 percent undecided.
Murphy also leads Ponte Vedra Beach GOP U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, but it’s much closer at 38 to 36 percent, with 26 percent undecided.
The poll does not include the two other GOP candidates in the race, neither Pinellas County U.S. Rep. David Jolly nor former military veteran and CIA contractor Todd Wilcox.
In head-to-head matchups with those same two Republicans, the other major Democrat running for Senate, Orlando-area Congressman Alan Grayson, does not fare so well.
Lopez-Canters leads Grayson, 38 to 34 percent, with 28 percent undecided.
DeSantis leads Grayson, 37 to 33 percent, with 30 percent undecided.
The Florida Atlantic University poll was conducted from 1 p.m. Sunday through Monday. The polling sample was a random selection of registered voters purchased through Aristotle Inc. Likely primary voters were classified through a screening question. The Democratic and GOP primaries consisted of 297 and 355 adult registered likely primary voters in Florida, with a margin of error of +/-5.6 percent and +/-5.2 percent respectively. An overall sample of 829 registered voters with a+/-3.3 percent, at a 95 percent confidence level was used for the additional statewide questions.

Leader- Pam Keith is rising in the polls for the Senate race. Pam has tremendous energy and connecting with grassroots voters. Stand with Pam Keith for Senate. Her campaign is gaining support, very much in this race. The media and press need to add her campaign as they do the other candidates.
