Rep. Alan Grayson has earned the support of the Florida chapter of the Progressive Democrats of America.
“Progressive Democrats of America’s Florida Chapter is proud to stand with our Congressman With Guts, and look forward to him fighting for all Floridians as our Senator,” said Mike Fox, Florida state coordinator for Progressive Democrats Of America, in a news release.
The national organization grew out of the presidential campaigns of Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich.
Fox said the organization polled its Florida members and Grayson “won a resounding 90 percent of the vote.”
“I am truly honored to have Florida’s Progressive Democrats of America stand with me. Its members share my passion to promote peace, health care for all, and bringing an end to economic and social injustice wherever possible,” said Grayson. “They not only fight to protect Florida’s workers, children and seniors, but they do the vital organizing work that provides the only path to delivering a Democrat into the Senate and White House. I’m proud to have them at my side.”
Both Grayson, an Orlando Democrat, and Rep. Patrick Murphy are vying for their party’s nomination to replace Sen. Marco Rubio.
