Michelle Ubben, partner and chief operating officer of Sachs Media Group, was named one of the “Top Women in PR” by PR News, the leading national journal for the public relations industry.

The annual list features the nation’s most influential women in public relations — leaders who set the agenda both within their company and for the profession.

Ubben plays an instrumental role leading Sachs Media Group to become Florida’s preeminent independent public relations firms, and one of the top 100 such companies in the nation. As a veteran communications professional, she oversees the firm’s Tallahassee practice, offices in three other Florida cities and in Washington, D.C.

“Michelle is one of the most innovative, insightful and inspiring individuals I have ever known, and she is wholly deserving of this significant honor,” said Sachs Media Group President and CEO Ron Sachs. “I am proud to call her my dear friend and great colleague, and I’m particularly pleased that our industry, nationally is learning what we already know to be true.”

Ubben joins other honorees in New York City this month for an awards luncheon celebrating 2016’s “Top Women in PR.”

“To be included with such an extraordinary group of women is a humbling honor,” Ubben said. “It’s a great blessing to be able to do what I love every day, knowing that I am helping to set a positive course for our firm, our team and our clients.”

Ubben, with more than 30 years’ experience, has accumulated a long list of national and regional professional awards. In 2014, she was honored with a national Gracie Award by the Alliance for Women in Media, as well as a local Emmy nomination for the 30-minute television program “Intimate Crimes: The Inside Story of Child Sexual Abuse.”

Also in 2014, she was named a Woman of Distinction by the Girl Scouts of the Florida Panhandle in the public relations category. She also received an international Stevie Award for Women in Business in 2008 and was a finalist for the National Public Relations Executive of the Year in 2006. That same year, she was one of five national front-runners for the National Public Relations Executive of the Year award.
