Rebecca Negron earns the backing of Rep. Tom Rooney

Rep. Tom Rooney is throwing his support behind Rebecca Negron in her congressional District 18 bid.

“Congressional District 18 needs a conservative that holds its best interest at heart and has the passion to fight for the issues that matter most to Floridians,” said Rooney said about his decision.

Rooney was elected to the U.S. House in 2008. He represented the Treasure Coast from 2008 until 2012. His current district includes parts of central and Southwest Florida. The Okeechobee Republican serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Appropriations Committee.

“In addition to sharing core Republican values, she stands ready to address the increasing threats to our national security. Rebecca is also committed to strengthening and empowering our military, ensuring we have the tools necessary to secure and protect our nation. I am proud to lend Rebecca my support.”

Negron said she appreciated Rooney’s endorsement.

“Congressman Rooney and I stand united in our belief that national security is of utmost importance,” she said. “We must have strong Republican leaders in Congress to ensure we are doing everything we can to secure our borders and protect Americans from forces that seek to harm our homeland. I thank him for his support of my campaign for Congressional District 18.”

Since announcing her candidacy, Negron has received endorsements from several Treasure Coast officials. The Martin County Republican has also been endorsed by Maggie’s List. Congressional District 18 includes Martin, St. Lucie and Palm Beach counties.

Rebecca Negron is the wife of Senate President Designate Joe Negron.
