Trey Radel's unfinished business: $166K

trey_radel

Unfinished business surrounds former U.S. Rep. Trey Radel’s exit from Congress this past year, namely $166,000 in cash left in campaign accounts.

The Fort Myers Republican, who had one of the shortest stints ever for a congressional representative from Florida after his cocaine possession arrest in Washington D.C., released his most recent campaign report Jan 31.

Ledyard King of News-Press.com reports on the money that remained after minuscule account activity in the final quarter of 2014. There was no indication of what Radel plans next for the money, and he has not yet responded to media inquiries.

Radel does have a few options. He can contribute the money to another campaign or committee, or donate the money to charity. Or he can repay some of the $206,000 in loans he made to his 2012 campaign.

Radel — who has kept a low profile since resigning from Congress — could also refund the money to contributors, just as he did in 2014.
