Adam Hasner is lending his support to Carlos Lopez-Cantera’s U.S. Senate bid.
In an email to supporters Tuesday, the former House Majority Leader said keeping a majority in the U.S. Senate is “just as important” as the presidential preference primaries and that the race is “too important to ignore.”
“My good friend Carlos Lopez-Cantera is the only candidate who has the ability to win in the primary as well as the general and help us keep this seat in Republican control,” said Hasner in the email. “And I hope you will join me in supporting him.”
Hasner served in the Florida House from 2002 until 2010. He served as the Majority Leader from 2007 until 2010. Lopez-Cantera was elected to the Florida House in 2004, and acted as the Majority Whip from 2009 until 2010.
“I served with Carlos in the Legislature, and I know he is driven by producing results, not rhetoric. His campaign has the momentum, but they need your help to keep it,” he said.
Hasner talked up Lopez-Cantera’s experience “helping other businesses navigate complicated and unnecessary government regulations is what drove him into public service; with the goal of reducing those regulations for Floridians.” Hasner said Lopez-Cantera, who serves as the state’s lieutenant governor, “is a part of the team that brought 1 million new jobs to Florida in the last five years.”
It’s no surprise Hasner is beginning to lend a hand to Lopez-Cantera. In March, the campaign announced that Hasner was one of several members of his U.S. Senate Financial Leadership Team.
Lopez-Cantera faces Rep. Ron DeSantis, Rep. David Jolly, Carlos Beruff and Todd Wilcox in the Aug. 30 Republican primary.
