Cris Dosev has received enough signatures to secure a spot on the ballot.
Dosev announced Tuesday he received enough verified signatures to qualify for the Congressional District 1 race. The Pensacola Republican said he was “humbled and very deeply gratified” for the volunteers that helped him reach the goal.
“Their work, and the enthusiastic support they encountered from Republicans fed up with politicians and political games, testifies to our hunger for a genuine outsider who shares the values of everyday Floridians and will vote for those values, not some insider Washington deal,” said Dosev in a statement. “I am a first-time candidate, facing two longtime Tallahassee insiders. But I am also the first to file my petitions. That shows people are sick of the same-old, same-old. They are looking for dramatic change.”
Dosev faces fellow Republicans Matt Gaetz, Greg Evers and James Zumwalt in the race to replace Rep. Jeff Miller in Congress. Miller announced earlier this year he was planning to retire after his current term.
State records show Dosev received 2,308 verified signatures. He needed 2,298 to qualify.
The official qualifying period for congressional races runs from noon on June 20 until noon on June 24.
