Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday said he supports a move by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to sue the federal government over souring Medicaid negotiations.

In a press release issued by Abbott’s office the governor said that he “commends” Scott’s decision to take legal action and “Texas will support Florida in its litigation against the federal government.”

“Florida’s approach should be determined by Floridians, not coerced by federal bureaucrats,” Abbott said in the release.

It’s not exactly clear what “support” means, whether Texas will join Florida in the yet-to-be-filed lawsuit or whether the governor is just verbally supporting Scott’s suit. Florida Politics is waiting for returned calls from Abbott’s office.

Scott announced plans last week to file suit against the Obama administration for “coercing” Florida into Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act by withholding Low Income Pool funding.

An Abbot biography notes that he has filed more than 30 lawsuits against the Obama administration, from challenging Environmental Protection Agency regulations to joining the lawsuit former Attorney General Bill McCollum filed against the Affordable Care Act in 2010.
