The Tony Awards intend to pay tribute to the victims of Orlando’s Pulse nightclub massacre Sunday night and Orlando leaders are sending their thanks.
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and Dr. Phillips Center For The Performing Arts President Kathy Ramsberger offered video thanks late Sunday afternoon in the middle of the crisis management.
“Thank you, Broadway, for standing with us in our time of need,” Dyer says.
“Your thoughts, your prayers and your outpouring of love have been felt, and they have helped begin the healing in our diverse community,” Jacobs said.
“Our vision for the arts is for every life. And every life here in Orlando and around the world has been affected by this needless tragedy,” Ramsberger said.
The Tony Awards reached out to Ramsberger Sunday, letting her know the tribute would be made. As part of that, she, Dyer and Jacobs quickly produced the thank you video, to be played as part of tonight’s tribute.
